Born and raised in the former Soviet Union, I studied fine art from age seven. After coming to the US, then Canada in my early teens, I attended the School of the Art Institute of Chicago for BFA in Visual Communication, and Syracuse University for MA in Advertising Design. After almost 25 years in advertising, I went back to my first love – painting. My ongoing project, Draw Me A Monster, in which I draw creatures imagined and described by the audience, has taken me around the world and has given life to more than 2,000 monsters. I am always looking for a story to tell, whether it's through a person's imaginary monster or through my own comic-like sketches. I am currently in the process of writing a graphic novel based on my family's experience of escaping from Communism at the end of the Cold War.
