TOAF61. TOAF62. Now TOAF63. Every participation to TOAF brings artistic and organizational challenges but most of all, a discussion about the vision. This year the artistic discussion focuses on stillness, one word. Observe the unobservable. 2023, was a year devoted to exploring the concept of stillness.

To explore the concept of stillness, one object was selected to be observed and studied. This object, an abandoned industrial steel structure, simply occupies a space in the urban landscape, waiting to be discovered and discreetly observed.

Black and white film turned out to be key in this study. Using film over digital, brings stillness to the mind by slowing down the process of creation. Thus, forcing an intimate study of the object thru the detailed observation of shadows and highlights and how they interact together to present the unobservable to the stillness of the moment.

A singular discussion of simplicity and beauty.

A bachelor's degree in science, a graduate of the New York Institute of Photography and CPP of PPA, Eric Chabot divides his time between his two passions, science and the art of taking pictures. Professional photographer for over two decades, he has published in various magazines, received the Fuji Film award and published a book where he presents us a collection of photographs.
