Debra Wronzberg
An award-winning artist, Debra recently won the Emerging Artist Award from the Artist Network, Riverdale Art Walk (RAW). Her unique, signature style are paintings that marry semi-abstracts with mosaics.
Using painter’s tape, Debra maps out her compositions, paints them, then pulls off the tape to reveal the finished painting. Inspired by the Japanese art form of Kintsugi, the repairing of broken pottery using liquid gold as glue, it is also a metaphor for life that says ‘what is broken can be repaired and become stronger than it was before,’ a sentiment that deeply resonates with her. Debra describes her approach to art as a journey of transformation, one that echoes the struggles and triumphs of nature itself, akin to Cézanne’s pursuit of molding nature through geometric form, capturing the essence of Kintsugi in her process.
Debra is a member of the Richmond Hill Group of Artists and is on the executive of the Markham Group of Artists.
