I was born in South Korea. A fond memory of my childhood in GoHeung(고흥) was catching and feeding frogs in my Grandmother's pond.
Animals were my healing friends in my childhood. I lost my mother when I was 8 years old. In the grief, I also lost my words for months. During this hard time, my dad taught me how to feed frogs and play with chickens. I used to feed the frogs as if I was fishing by hanging a piece of pumpkin petals from the end of a stick. I would threaten a chicken and chase it. Drawing upon these memories, I capture the emotions of human nature into these animals, representing the many people who live in a competitive society while satirizing our short-sightedness of the future.
I have been influenced by both the ancient Korean arts and contemporary western sensibilities, and strive to bring together these two separate philosophies.
