Chantal Proulx
Chantal is a self-taught abstract painter from Montreal, Quebec, Canada. She has been painting for more than 20 years and has participated in many national and international exhibitions. Her paintings are collected throughout the world.
Her art is about transmitting joy and beauty inspired by the nature through colours and emotion in a very spontaneous way, where the unconscious takes up more space than the conscious. She does not seek to represent her surroundings, but rather to create an emotion, a reminiscence of a place or time. By choosing a colour palette that sets the mood, she spreads the paint and mix them directly on the canvas. As she adds details, a dialogue takes place between the canvas and her. Several of her paintings are enhanced with writing as she believes that writing is also a form of art. Even as an expressive painter, Chantal pays a special attention to colour balance and composition.
