Booth 70

Breanna's work is rooted in the exploration of realism and her interest in rendering her subjects with a likeness to nature. Heavily informed by historical representational painting, she evokes memories of the Pre-Raphaelite and Italian Baroque eras as a familiar entry point for her viewers. Using quotes from her personal life conversations with friends and family, she creates paintings that reveal an underlying sense of anxiety, while dramatic lighting elicits feelings of obscurity and crypticism. She titles her work after these quotes that have been taken out of their original context. Breanna is interested in how an image can change the meaning of text, and how text may be used to add value to an image.

Breanna graduated with distinction from Queen’s University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 2020. In the following years she pursued a Masters of Fine Art in Painting at the University of the Arts London, where she was awarded the International Postgraduate Scholarship. While living in the UK she was selected to participate in the London Art Biennale where she won the Chianciano Museum Award. Her painting will be exhibited in the Chianciano Biennale in Tuscany in the summer of 2024.

Breanna has been exhibiting her paintings for 7 years, participating in group shows in Canada and internationally. Her recent work has gained recognition through awards, nominations and becoming the acquisitions of private collectors.
