Antonio Gomez-Palacio
I grew up in central Mexico, with a backdrop of rolling hills and thousand-year old cultures. Last century, woodcut prints, were used by revolutionary and social movements to readily convey the life and plight of the marginalized. Today, xylography and linocuts thrive as vernacular art techniques. To me, it is genuine. Tactile and essential. Carving in wood helps me capture what I see when I close my eyes.
