Adi Zur
I was born and raised in Israel. I became an art teacher there.
I came to Canada in 1991. I graduate from OCAD with an honours degree in Drawing and Painting.
I am intensely moved by the fact that in our contemporary world, we are bombarded each day by information from competing media. My paintings are born out of a sense that in the midst of this world of information there is a calm eye to the storm. In my work, I choose different titles from newspapers and create my own imaginary narrative – my art is an expression of that.
I use oil paint, combined with a collage of newspapers, titles, and photographs that I take randomly in my daily life. These headlines become the name of my paintings.
