Description

This series disrupts notions of beauty and stereotypes based on hair type and skin colour. Images of women taken from archive postcards have been abstractly rendered with defined features but ambiguous ethnicity. Culturally specific screen printed papers are then layered onto images. Creole refers to all people regardless of ancestry once they are from the Caribbean. Belle was a term used to describe beautiful creolized Caribbean women in archive postcards. Unframed
