Description
In my work, censorship serves as a visual metaphor for broader issues of gender discrimination. I often fuse different animals, rhinos, crows, fish, and roosters, concealing human sexuality within these combinations. Each animal represents a different societal narrative: the rooster symbolizes patriarchy, the crow and fish reflect women’s lives. Since moving to Newfoundland, I’ve begun incorporating local animals like moose, pigeons, and ducks, as I explore my evolving identity in this new Land.
