White Spruce: Itty Bitty Piece of Bark

Description

White spruce (Picea glauca) is found throughout Canada's provinces and territories and happily grows up to the Arctic tree line. Because of its wide distribution, it frequently mixes and mingles with other spruce species - in this case, the tree is a white x Engelmann (P engelmanni) mix. I love drawing its bark because of the interesting structures: the way the scales fit together, the soft colours, and the distinctive scales themselves. This work is ready to hang and ships free in Canada.
