Moon with pain tree

Artist
Dan Crawford
Description
This image is a reflection on the symbolic use of the tree
in history both in the past and present. People tie ribbons
to trees, carve initials and faces, make offerings as in wishing trees.

In a poignant example in the novel, The Pain Tree, women drive a
nail into a tree to be rid of pain and grief.
In this image the moon is a witness and reflects light on the tree.
