Ajioqjemin (Blackberry)

Artist
Audrey Arsenault
Description
The copper elements were formed using the ancient metalsmithing technique of chasing and repoussé. This piece honors the blackberry—ajioqjemin in Mi’gmaq—which has long been valued for its medicinal uses by Indigenous peoples. The berry can be removed from the wall and worn as a brooch, carrying its story, spirit, and craftsmanship with you on all your adventures. A wire installed on the back allows for easy wall display.
