As a maker of Hand Bound Books, i employ Japanese papers, Asahi Bookcloth, and/or Snakeskin for their visual and tactile beauty in the creation of one-of-a-kind Journals, Sketchbooks, Guest Albums and Boxes. As a weaver influenced by the 'secret' Japanese art of Saganishiki, I create 'Woven Paper Textile' -cutting found photographs/ appropriated art historical images into fine paper strands and interweaving with shimmering threads, to make a woven paper 'cloth' alive with light, evoking notions of spirit, the numinous, the sacred. Elsewhere, patterned Japanese papers interwoven with gold serve as abstract meditations, captured in the intimate space between the covers of a book.
