My paintings of empty storefronts and alleyways aim to explore how the less obvious things that constitute a neighbourhood can develop meaning. Careful deliberation in composing an image elevates the subject in my conscience and nudges it toward the surreal — gradually, the ordinary becomes important.
The detail in my work, and use of highly rendered texture and pointillism requires focus and stamina. Once the painting is complete the subject has become ingrained in my memory, and my relationship with it has been altered in a positive way.

I'm originally from Nova Scotia and am a graduate of the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design. I left Halifax for Toronto in search of professional experience, settling in Little Portugal. I've always painted and have been painting the buildings of Toronto regularly since 2018, while also working as a designer and raising a family.

Last year, I was honoured to be the recipient of the TOAF 2022 Mayor’s Purchase Award, where the city of Toronto acquires one participating artist’s work for its permanent collection.
