Melcolm Beaulieu (they/them), a member of Metepenagiag Mi'kmaq Nation, lives and works in Fredericton, New Brunswick, where they are rooted in the Indigenous art community. Melcolm's innovative approach combines the rich tradition of Indigenous beadwork with the immersive world of virtual reality, producing art that speaks to the fluidity of gender and identity, the resilience of tradition, and endless possibilities that arise when innovation and culture converge.

Their work has been showcased in gallery exhibitions such as Radical Stitch, the Contemporary Native Art Biennial/BACA, and the Vancouver Mural Arts Festival among others. In 2024 they brought their unique beadwork to life in the published children's book "Animals at Play in Mi'kma'ki".

In addition to their artistic practice, Melcolm is deeply committed to their community, teaching beadwork at their Fredericton studio, The Collective. Through teaching, they actively contribute to the vital intergenerational cycle of Indigenous learning, creation, and sharing with young people in their community.
